Description
Beautiful flower patch filled with blue and yellow petals. Growing up in Germany pansies are part of every home and public garden. They are called Mutterblume or Motherflower and are often given to mothers on mothers day. Here in the USA, they are the flower for Pancreatic Cancer Research. This seems fitting as the Victorian meaning of the pansy is missing, caring about you and thinking about you.
The pansy flower was used to convey not easily expressed in Victorian England such as I’m feeling amorous towards you, I am thinking of you or I have thoughts of you or I’m missing you, but always it was about one person thinking of another.
The garden pansy is a type of large-flowered hybrid plant cultivated as a garden flower. It is derived by hybridization from several species in the section Melanium ("the pansies") of the genus Viola, particularly Viola tricolor, a wildflower of Europe and western Asia known as heartsease.
Cancer Research:
The mission of Purple Pansies to Benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research is to focus on early detection and raising awareness of this deadly cancer. The specific symptoms of pancreatic cancer don't develop until the disease is significantly advanced.
