The e-mail I received just before I was teaching a drawing class in New Jersey last week. I am still pinching myself that I have found my MFA home in Italy. You might think, what is the big deal? For the last two years I have been applying for MFA in studio arts programs. My fellow artist know the stats don't look good for artists access to MFA programs. MFA candidate have about 1-2% chance to be accepted. Artist have an better chance to enter a medical,law or business master program. I am not sure why there are so few spots for higher education for the arts. Art has a great impact on our economy but seems to be overseen. I hope one day I can help change that and give more artist this wonderful opportunity.
