Bradford pear was introduced as an ornamental in 1964 by the US Department of Agriculture. The Bradford Tree lives about 20 years. It is an invasive tree and not recommended for planting. We live in the windy South Jersey and lost one Bradford Pear tree after a rather windy day. The good news is the tree missed our car. It took us days to remove the whole tree. Now every time it gets windy we wonder when the other trees will come down. The pear flowers are delicate and quite beautiful. In Spring out whole neighborhood is decorated in full white bloom.
